‘Grab’ (Katherine Thorn, The Omen)
Photo-emulsion on 90T screen
50x35cms
This work evolved whilst creating a series of screen prints on fabric exploring the role of mothers in horror films. Traditionally mothers have a caring role to play in society as protector of their wards, screening them from harm. Placed within the context of the horror genre, the mother-figure can be portrayed battling against an omnipotent evil force or they are themselves the instigators and perpetrators of violence against their children.
