'Almost Eden' a/p
Collograph with water washable inks

After sealing the collagraph with button polish, I attempted a print using water washable etching inks. Unfortunately, the print stuck to the plate. So, after completing a number of prints using oil based inks, I cleaned the plate with vegetable oil and a little white spirit, and attempted another water washable print. This time the paper adhered even more firmly to the plate. It seemed to me that the water washable inks were more tacky on the plate and that the citrus based cleaner I also used made the surface of the shellac very slightly rubbery to touch.
