Today many people in the west have a passion for travel and a growing interest in the traditions and lifestyles of other cultures, yet so often incoming settlers show great disregard for the indigenous peoples, exploiting them and their land. Even at home we do not respect our own countryside. Old beliefs and customs practised by few are in danger of being forgotten, our ancestors' daily activities celebrated only in half remembered songs and poems.
