Catherine Thompson joined Seacourt Print Workshop in 1982 and was immediately attracted to the medium of printmaking. In 1991 she became a Director and has since taught regular courses there and played a leading role in the introduction of non-toxic methods and materials to the studio. She exhibits her work regularly, and has work in collections such as the Royal Victoria Hospital, Allied Irish Bank, Banque Nationale de Paris, The Brian Burn Collection of Irish Art (San Francisco).

"Landscape is often the source of my imagery. It is the colour, light and structure of nature that excites me. My present preoccupation is with water, creating images that whilst abstract, portray qualities of movement, light and reflective patterns, making them immediately recognizable."
