Henrietta Alexander was educated at Methodist College, Belfast and Belfast College of Art, whereshe gained a Diploma in Printed Textiles, National Diploma of Design in Painting and Art Teachers Diploma.
There subsequently followed a career in teaching art and at the same time developing her own work. Since joining Seacourt Print Workshop in Bangor, this has included much printmaking - etching and woodcuts have mainly been used and as colour is important it is introduced through viscosity etching and monoprinting. A more three-dimensional side to her work uses wood and glass - using the tiffany tecnique with staining and fusing.
Subject matter usually begins with drawings of the surrounding landscape, often with figures or animals included, and her family life and Christian faith have sustained her in her creativity.
