"My work concerns the female image especially in relation to ideas of display and adornment. Earlier work focused on the transition from childhood to adolescence as reflected in objects such as toys, games, cosmetics, fashion etc. There were strong figurative and narrative elements to these print and mixed media pieces. Whilst still looking at such ideas, I began to focus on the more formal elements of colour, shape, pattern etc. The medium of the Collagraph has enabled me to move up in scale towards more abstract pieces. With jewelry as the source, the plates have also become items of ornament. Recent etchings have been more figurative but are still concerned with the ongoing themes of display and adornment."
