Margaret Ravey studied textile printing at Belfast College of Art and gained the post-graduate Art Teachers Diploma and Certificate of Education at the West of England College of Art and Bristol University.
Retirement from teaching in 2003 has brought a new focus to life and has offered opportunities for travel and to further develop her work in the field of printmaking
Living on the shore of Belfast Lough for the past 50 years has brought awareness of, and personal involvement in, the seasonal changes to the environment. Her work is habitually concerned with recording the changing natural forms of water, rocks and trees. In recent work she have drawn on experiences from her travels further afield, in Europe, Norway and Canada, as well as more familiar subjects closer to home.
From 1970 she has exhibited in both individual and group shows. Her work is in private collections in Canada, USA, France, Germany, Norway and the British Isles.
