On visiting the exhibition of the Schwemberger photographs in the Ards Arts Centre, I was particularly drawn to the photographs of the Pueblo dwellings and the surrounding harsh, lonely rocky environment. These photographs revived memories of a trip I made to an Adobe settlement in Arizona during 1994 which had a very similar atmosphere. The exhibition prompted me to dig out a box of photos from my trip which I consequently pieced together as a ‘fold out box of memories’.
