Seacourt Print Workshop is celebrating successfully obtaining
Lottery funding for a new member of staff. Penny Brewill has joined
the renowned Bangor based artists resource as Print Research
Technician. The funding secured through the Arts Council of Northern
Ireland will enable Seacourt to explore ‘green’ methods of
printmaking. Director, Robert Peters, said, “Seacourt is extremely
happy to announce this new appointment. As one of the few artists’
print studios to incorporate non-toxic approaches to printmaking we
are always looking for new process for our members to engage with.
The new methods Penny will be researching will also be available to
the general public through our classes. We have been extremely
fortunate in securing someone of Penny’s knowledge and reputation
for the post.
Penny, who is originally from North Down, studied fine art at The University of The West of England, Bristol and postgraduate printmaking at The Slade School of Fine Art in London, and has taught in a number of universities in England, including The Slade and Winchester School of Art. She is a practising artist exhibiting her work in solo and group shows internationally. She has won several prizes and awards for her work, and has recently been elected as an Associate member of The Royal Society of Painter –Printmakers. Parallel to her career as an artist and lecturer, Penny has had much experience in commercial fields such as print related research and consultancy work, and she has worked for several years as a Master Printer for The Curwen Studio in Cambridge.
Awards for All is an excellent source of funding for community organisations interested in developing creative arts based projects. We can offer advice and support to groups interested in Printmaking projects.
