Oceanographic is the culmination of a partnership project with Queen's University Marine Lab, Portaferry. Seacourt artists visited the marine biology facility to learn about the range of research being carried out by staff and students. Of particular interest was the search for renewable energy sources, such as bio-fuels from seaweed; part of the research being carried out by Karen Mooney through the EnAlgae Project. Artists then spent several months generating ideas inspired by this initial visit a further research. The results can be seen at The Centre for Contemporary Printmaking between the 3rd and 31st June. Launch will take place on the 3rd at 7.00pm during which we will have talks by staff of QUML and visiting artist Marty Ittner from Pyramid Atlantic in Washington DC.
